Marina Ruhinda, a.k.a Red love of Redlove Designs is a Tazanian born Singer- Songwriter, Music Producer, and Fashion Designer based in the U.K.
Her passion for writing music and singing started at a very young age where she used to listen to lots of her favorite songs whilst learning how to write and arrange music and sing. She has written more than two hundred songs and recorded at least thirty songs of which a few have been published.
Likewise, her passion for designing and making garments started at a very young age. She remembers as a child, rummaging through her mother's closet in search for unused materials which she used to sew into skirts and dresses. She would walk around the house in a new dress, all to her mother's surprise.
She officially started making garments in 2023 after travelling back to Tanzania from the UK where she had been for a long while. Whilst in Tanzania she developed a strong passion for the African print, Kitenge and started making ladies and men's clothes. Her garments are mostly made of Kitenge prints, mashing with other fabrics to create her designs.
There are two ways in which she designs her outfits; one being through sourcing out fabrics then designing and the other being coming up with original design sketches then working out what fabrics to be used for the garments.
Redlove Designs has so far been lucky enough to have graced some of Africa’s biggest fashion shows, including Swahili Fashion Week in December in 2023, Zanzibar International Fashion Festival in December 2023, Lady in Red Fashion Show February 2024, collaboration on Miss Tanga Beauty Pageant May 2024, and also the very first fashion show in the United Kingdom which was held on the 6th of July 2024 at London Marriott Grosvenor Square to commemorate Word Kiswahili Day in London.
Redlove Designs has been fortunate enough to employ a handful of young Tanzanians and hence making small contribution to the community through fashion and creativity.
Redlove Designs was awarded the SJA Art Culture & Music Award, Special Recognition in July 2024, London, United Kingdom on World Kiswahili Day.
